Product Care Instructions
Arlo & Co leather accessories are made using full grain, vegetable-tanned leather. No pigments are used to hide the leather defects and in some cases, some marks will be visible on the leathers as a result of the natural process. This is normal, and over time the leather will develop an organic patina that increases with age as it shapes itself to your life.
It's important to avoid allowing the leather to come into contact with water, moisture, oils, perfumes, or cosmetics as this can significantly diminish the look of your leather. Also keep away from children.
To slow the natural effects of your leather's wear and ageing, and to keep it supple and unscuffed, we highly recommend the use of leather protectant or balm.
To care for your leather product:
- Keep the product dry, and avoid damp or wet surfaces.
- Know that wear and tear can occur with use - your leather may soften, and your embossing may wear over time.
- Do not use any chemical cleaners to care for the product.
- Gently use the product, as colour transfer can occur.
- Treat the product with care and limit the exposure to direct heat and sunlight.
To clean your leather product:
- Use a damp cloth in an inconspicuous area of your product first to ensure that it does not react poorly. Once you have confirmed it to be safe, you can use this to carefully clean your product.
If your personalisation is fading with wear and tear, within one year of purchase, please feel free to send your piece back to us at Arlo & Co, 1 Belmike Close, Chirnside Park VIC 3116 - to be serviced and re-embossed free of charge.
Please include a note with your return address so we can post it back out to you within a few days.
Arlo & Co bamboo products are made using eco-friendly bamboo. Being a natural material, bamboo grain is subject to minor variances from piece to piece, and any variation that may exist in either colour or grain is normal. These natural variations contribute to the beauty of your products - each piece as unique as the people your gifts are made for. It's important to avoid allowing the bamboo to come into contact with water, moisture, oils, perfumes, or cosmetics as this can significantly damage your bamboo product. Also keep away from children.
To slow the natural effects of your bamboo product ageing, we also highly recommend placing the product away from direct sunlight. Please note it is likely your bamboo may darken over time due to exposure to light - this is normal and to be expected.
A note on mould: Please note that our bamboo products are unsealed. The actual printing itself is water-resistant, due to being printed with UV cured inks (meaning, the printing won’t come off or damage when in contact with water) - but we don't ever coat our timber or bamboo products, preferring the raw and natural finished look. The bamboo generally holds up really well in all manner environments, and the UV curing means the inks are steadfast (and won't rub off). However, as natural bamboo is porous by nature, if there is a moisture issue or source in the environment - that may cause mould to develop in your home - this may impact your natural bamboo pieces in some extreme circumstances.
Arlo & Co acrylic products are made using quality acrylic perspex (including mirror). The acrylic mirror is beautiful but also fragile. Please handle the acrylic products with care. Before putting the acrylic mirror on your chosen surface, please undo all twist ties that fasten your mirror to the backing board. Leaving even one twist tie connected could cause your mirror to snap when being lifted off the backing board. When holding your acrylic piece, please hold by the thickest parts of the product.
Please take care not to bend or drop the acrylic mirror - it is very fragile by design. It is your responsibility to ensure the piece is securely fastened to the surface, as if it falls, it will possibly break. Items are not to be handled by children. Do not hang items above cots or beds, or within a child's reach.
Arlo & Co wall decal products are made using fine weave fabric, not vinyl, and are printed with high quality inks. The products are for indoor use only as the weave fabric isn't waterproof and can be seriously damaged by exposure to high humidity and moisture. We recommend keeping the product away from children and also placing it away from direct sunlight. To remove the decals from the wall, carefully lift a corner and whilst holding the sticker back on itself, slowly peel off. Our wall decals won’t damage your wall, but it’s important to be careful when removing in case the wall has been poorly prepared before painting.
Here you'll find instructions and tips to help you use you Arlo & Co Flower Press:
1. Collect flowers which have just opened, so they are undamaged and bright. Lay out your flowers, and trim away any unwanted leaves. Cut stems at an angle, and brush off any dirt with a moist paper-towel. 2. If your flowers have wilted slightly, place them in water and allow them to rehydrate for about an hour. You can use scissors to split any thick flowers in half, for best results. 3. Open your flower press and remove all cardboard except for the bottom piece. (You can discard the pieces of cardboard with holes in the centre - they are provided to nestle your wing nuts and bolts in the post - but keep the other four full sheets of cardboard for pressing your flowers). You'll want to distribute your flowers and leaves evenly throughout the press, starting at the bottom layer. 4. Avoid placing your flowers and leaves directly onto the cardboard without blotting paper (tissue paper, or paper towel) in between the flowers and the cardboard. This will preserve your cardboard and allow you to reuse it next time.5. Layer your flower press from the bottom up, in this order -
- Bottom timber base
- Cardboard
- Blotting paper
- Flowers
- Blotting Paper
- Cardboard
- Blotting Paper
- Flowers
- ... and repeat
Once you've placed the final layer of cardboard on top, place the timber 'lid' of your flower press on top of the stack. Use the four wing nuts to hold the press tightly together.
6. Keep your press in a warm, dry place for approximately 6 weeks. You can carefully check on the progress of your flowers now and again; different flowers take different amounts of time to press.
Your flowers are ready to take out when they are stiff and completely dry.
